HMS is hiring a Claims Supervisor who oversees the activities of the Claims, Mailroom, Data Entry, and Business Analysis teams to help us serve our Alaska Medicaid client. The Claims Supervisor works directly with account management in reporting inventories and strategizing process improvements. They set goals for the teams and monitor adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs). They must stay current with system and federal and state regulatory changes, implement necessary strategies, and process changes as necessary. This person is also responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong relationship with the client for these work areas.


Your role in our mission

•    Supervises the receipt, processing, calculation, payment, and reporting of monthly claims submitted by providers in compliance with contractual requirements, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.
•    Supervises Claims staff and implements plans to achieve goals, establish priorities, and set realistic completion dates.
•    Conducts Claims team meetings, identifies and coordinates training needs, and administers performance evaluations for all supervised staff.
•    Facilitates continuing improvement of business processes in Claims.
•    Creates, develops, and designs any forms or spreadsheets needed within the department to use for collecting and/or reporting data.
•    Assists in developing division goals and measurement systems of performance indicators.
•    Trains, coaches, and evaluates assigned staff on performance expectations.
•    Works with team to set goals.
•    Monitors team operational and financial performance and initiates corrective actions when required.
•    Participates in hiring and termination procedures.
•    Supervises daily transactions to ensure policy and procedures are in accordance with SLAs.
•    Other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

•    Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a claim processing setting.
•    Experience working with claims preferred, and client services.
•    Leadership, organization skills to independently balance and prioritize work and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Strong communication skills for interacting with personnel and strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
•    Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use MS Office, including Excel spreadsheets.

What you should expect in this role

Work-from-home (WFH); or Hybrid model including in-office and WFH days to be defined. For positions assigned to WFH, reliable high-speed internet connectivity is required.  Employees working-from-home may be required to report to the office, at times, to support work efforts.  


The pay range for this position is $70,200.00 - $87,700.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
