Summary
As an AWS Cloud Disaster Recovery Engineer, you will contribute your skills to design, implement and execute disaster recovery and high availability solutions. You will report to the Manager of Continuity Services and be a member of the Continuity Services Team which includes AWS Cloud DR Engineers and Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity Planners / Coordinators. This position can work remote from anywhere in the continental United States.
Your role in our mission
- The AWS Disaster Recovery Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert and technical resource on the Continuity Services / AWS DR team responsible for AWS architecture and Disaster Recovery solutions.
- The AWS DR Engineer will compose and leverage AWS CloudFormation to ensure repeatable, sustainable AWS infrastructure is effectively created and managed.
- Automate DR testing at multiple levels and monitor results.
- Create and implement automation processes and standards for AWS cloud DR services.
- Maintain AWS Cloud Infrastructure in an optimal configuration from both technical and budgetary perspectives.
- Develop, Document and improve operational practices and procedures.
- Ensure all infrastructure components meet proper performance and security standards
- Help plan and execute DR exercises.
- Ensuring efficient data storage and adherence to security policies.
- Troubleshooting problems with builds, automated deployment systems and tools, and cloud infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting and recovery documentation.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and other technical teams to test data backup, replication, and recovery tools.
- Translation of complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture.
- Managing disaster recovery solutions, including backup and replication strategies, recovery, failover and failback processes, to the required recovery time objectives (RTO).
- Performing regular disaster recovery drills and validating recovery plans and processes.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of experience in AWS cloud engineering or 6+ years combination of AWS engineering and Windows/Linux System Administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related area, or a combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on experience with Disaster Recovery including disaster recovery and business continuity principles, replication and high-availability techniques, RTO & RPO, and disaster recovery exercises.
- Strong experience in AWS cloud platform, features, and tools including EC2, EBS, RDS, CloudFormation, Lambdas, S3, FSx, EFS, Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS), Backups, IAM, KMS, AWS Glue, EKS/Containers, IaaS, PaaS, Infrastructure as Code, Python, Terraform.
- Strong working knowledge in System Administration, Networking, AD/DNS, Route53, Load Balancers, and Database Administration including AOAG.

The pay range for this position is $95,100.00 - $135,800.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
