HMS a Gainwell Company

HMS is hiring to support our Alaska account. These representatives will perform cash management/processing functions related to Alaska Medicaid. Supports the financial services business process team in delivering efficient and effective outsourced processes and services within the Alaska Medicaid program. Demonstrates business knowledge and skills developed through formal job-related training or work experience. Works within established procedures with a moderate degree of supervision. Identifies issues and all contributing factors in straightforward situations, assesses each using standard procedures, and makes sound decisions.

Your role in our mission

  • Counsels employees on company benefit plans, policies and procedures such as health and welfare, orientation and relocation to ensure employees have appropriate information to make informed choices regarding benefits packages including the various costs of the benefits such as health and welfare, orientation and relocation. Prepares and provides employee briefings regarding the appropriate benefit need.
  • Processes necessary paperwork for various programs such as new hires, open benefit enrollment, relocation and terminations to ensure timely and accurate benefit coverages and cancellations. Works with business unit(s) to ensure receipt of timely and accurate employment/termination information relevant to benefits administration and/or relocation.
  • Coordinates paperwork and related processes associated with employee terminations including cancellation of coverage, calculation and refund of premiums, notifying employee of COBRA rights, correcting the beneficiary database, calculates amounts of relocation repayments required, and determining if employees are vested.
  • Monitors claims status and prepares supporting documents as necessary to ensure timely processing of benefits-related claims and/or relocation documentation.
  • Processes life and AD and D claims including completing necessary forms, obtaining death certificates, and forwarding necessary information to the insurance provider.
  • Assists in the analysis of various benefit options to identify the most appropriate cost effective and competitive programs for the organization including modifications/improvements to existing programs. Assists in preparing cost benefit statements.
  • Calculates relocation expenses and determines taxable and non-taxable expenses based on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines. Ensures that relocation expenses are entered into applicable systems for payment under appropriate expense categories. Retains records regarding relocations and notifies employees of completed expense processing. Prepares year end reports for employee tax filings. Perform audits and cost analyses of associated relocation expenses.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field preferred
  • Six or more years of human resources experience
  • Experience working with human resources principles, practices, and procedures
  • Experience working with benefit administration principles, practices, and procedures
  • Experience working with corporate and legal employment-related policies
  • Experience working with human resources information systems (HRIS)

What you should expect in this role

We prefer the person selected to be based in an office in Anchorage, Alaska, but we will consider someone to work remotely (work from home) if in Alaska.






The pay range for this position is $54,300.00 - $77,500.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
