Summary

Under general direction as a Business System Analyst – Mainframe/COBOL at Gainwell, you will interface with the customer in developing requirements for major projects of considerable complexity; prepare system design specifications; conduct research to resolve customer-initiated issues related to Medicaid claims processing. You can contribute your skills as we harness the power of technology to help our clients improve the health and well-being of the members they serve — a community’s most vulnerable. Your role in our mission

 Gainwell empowers you show you’re a pro and help clients deliver better health and human services outcomes using innovative technology and solutions.

  • Works closely with customer to elicit business requirements, coordinate with systems analysts to develop system requirements, and creates general system design specifications by developing technical solutions to complex business and system problems. 
  • Creates, reviews, analyzes, and estimates project requests. Represents the testing needs of the client and reviews/validates test results before presentation to the client.
  • Understands the connections between multiple State initiatives and their cross-impact within NJMMIS.
  • Fields direct questions from Gainwell Operations Staff regarding business, technical and operations rules.
  • Supports mainframe batch and online systems.

What we're looking for

  • Experience working directly with customers eliciting and defining requirements. Demonstrated ability to interpret policy and translate into system requirements. Knowledge of policy for Medicaid and other State health programs a plus
  • Must have hands on mainframe programming experience
  • Knowledge of COBOL, VSAM, DB2, SQL, JCL, Expediter, FileAID
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; problem solving and analytical skills; and attention to details.  Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time and adapt to changing priorities and manage workload accordingly.
  • Three - five years of experience

The pay range for this position is $66,600.00 - $83,200.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
