As the company transitions to a stand-alone entity, we are implementing new applications to support our business.  In this process, we will be creating a CoE (Centers of Expertise) with a focus on our SAP S/4 Private Cloud deployments and the exploitation of our new Microsoft o365 deployments.  The Director of CoE is a core part of the GIS leadership team, leading a team of IT professionals who play a critical role in delivering capabilities and solutions that enable us to operate more effectively and efficiently as a company.  He/She will be responsible for creating and running a team of skilled resources which includes areas such as our SAP S/4 implementation, SAP CPM, BRIM, MRS, SAP Analytics (with a focus of integrated data from both SAP and non-SAP platforms).  This leader is responsible for planning, implementing, and leading the CoE’s to deliver against Gainwell’s tactical and strategic initiatives.  He/She is also responsible for the exploitation of our core technologies to drive maximum value from our investments through pilots and exploration.  
The Director will also ensure that the underpinning capabilities (people, process, technology) are in place to deliver competitive advantage, maximize organizational efficiency while maintaining a modern, resilient, connected, and secure foundation.
The leader will evolve the maturity of the CoE’s operating and governance model to achieve an optimized, strategic level, with integrated KPIs that measure business value produced

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:


Strategy, Roadmaps, Resource Planning


Develops and leads a technology team for the Enterprise that collaborates alongside their application peers to enable GIS to support strong business alignment, timely and quality driven solutions, help drive increased profitability & efficiency, and provides a sound, flexible foundation for the future. Delivers resource/capacity planning for CoE resources to support delivery of the GIS Portfolio.  Work alongside GIS functional/process teams and project managers to align resources to assist with project scoping and delivery.  Proactively identify potential gaps and conflicts as well as improvement opportunities.


Advisory and Technology Expertise


The Director and his/her respective CoE leaders provide deep expertise, delivery and support services for Gainwell’s enabling technologies with include (not limited to), our SAP, SAP BI, Microsoft collaboration, etc. landscapes.  The leader collaborates with business relationship managers and enterprise architect within GIS to own the “how” of building solutions in line with business capability requirements, technology standards, and reference architectures. 


Solution Delivery and Application/Platform Support

The leader will inspire and manage a team of IT professionals and application developers driving not only quality output in a rapid, agile manner, but creating a positive environment, facilitate a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and adoption of leading practices.  He/She will lead the organization in transitioning to new design patterns for developing applications for the enterprise solutions while optimizing the delivery process for internally facing applications.  He/She oversees all application and platform technical support, and lifecycle management activities to maintain a modern resilient, and supportable platform for the accountable platform; manage any external vendor activities related to support and delivery functions; directs release management activities as required.


Relationship Management


Initiate and maintain strategic relationship with GIS functional and technical colleagues as well as key functional/business stakeholders across Gainwell to ensure the successful delivery of initiatives and establishment of One Gainwell mentality. 
Develop strong vendor relationship when external vendors are leveraged to augment the internal CoE teams.  Identify and manage, with supply chain, strong contracts, statements of work and exit plans.


Other Job Functions:


Financial Management


Responsible for CoE annual budget in support of the company AOP process and for maintaining accurate forecasts.  Also responsible for the project budgets for required work/effort as they relate to approved initiatives

Metrics and Performance Management


Develop and report on key performance metrics for the CoE’s to track and report on value delivered.  Also responsible for tracking metrics on approved initiatives effort and cost to delivery


People Development


Build and sustain an outstanding team of technically talented, engaged, and delivery-oriented team members.  Build and nurture a strong talent pipeline.  Coach and develop the team to create a strong engagement and sense of community


Minimum Education or Equivalent Experience Required/Preferred

  •  MBA or similar degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree and relevant direct experience in the technology field required
  •  Expert in SAP technologies
  •  Computer skills and knowledge of hardware & software required
  •  Proficient in basic office and workgroup collaboration technologies


Minimum Years of Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required/Preferred


  •  15+ years of overall IT experience with 7+ years running CoE’s (must include SAP)
  •  Experience in SAP S/4 Hana and related additional SAP products (e.g.; Ariba, Concur, SuccessFactors, Fieldglass etc.), SAP Analytics Cloud, and working with 3rd party bolt-on products such as Vertex, Opentext
  •  5+ years managing larger technical teams
  •  Experience in driving large, complex change efforts or driving results through influence, persuasion, and relationships
  •  Strong experience in technology roadmaps, developing and implementing enterprise solutions, integration strategies, and principles and processes based on modern practices and methods
  •  Strong leadership, communication (written, oral), and collaboration skills, dealing with fast-moving and complex solutions supporting multiple projects simultaneously.  Translating requests into actions
  •  Proven ability to prioritize work and appropriately factor in business needs, risk, financial implications, quality, user expectations for delivery
