Summary

The Early Career Publication Specialist researches, writes, and edits State policy for use in documents such as articles, manuals, and user guides. Responsible for developing announcements regarding implementation of State policy, as well as changes to systems that support State policy.

Your role in our mission

  • Researches, writes, and edits State policy for use in documents such as articles, manuals, and user guides to provide the public with information regarding technical areas in a less technical way.  
  • Collaborates with technical and non-technical staff to create and refine draft materials. Collaboration styles include, but are not limited to, interviewing internal and external staff, reading previous documentation, and conducting cross-discipline meetings.
  • Writes, organizes, and reviews online help documents, policy and system change announcements to support end users.
  • Uses a variety of resources to gather and research previous documentation for use as a reference in their drafted materials.
  • Coordinates multiple projects on various deadlines and escalates issues in a timely manner.

What we're looking for

  • Background or experience in communications, journalism, technical writing, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat 
  • Experience working with industry writing style such as grammar, sentence form, and structure.
  • Used writing and editing skills to convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects on varying deadlines
  • Experience interacting with internal and external customers throughout your workday.

What you should expect in this role

Working from home with the ability to be in office when requested. Prefer within 50-mile radius of West Sacramento; will consider beyond radius, but must reside in CA.

The pay range for this position is $45,300.00 - $64,700.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
