Summary
Join our Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) team as an Enterprise Solution Architect, responsible for leading the design, implementation, and oversight of secure, scalable, and compliant MMIS solutions. This strategic role bridges business, technology, and quality, ensuring our Medicaid systems meet the highest standards for performance, security, and regulatory compliance.
Your role in our mission
Strategic Architecture & Leadership
- Lead the design and modernization of MMIS solutions, aligning with Medicaid regulations, CMS MITA guidelines, and enterprise architecture best practices
- Develop and execute cloud migration strategies, leveraging AWS for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Drive transformation initiatives, develop roadmaps, and deliver integrated strategies for modularity, interoperability, and sustainability
- Collaborate with state agencies, vendors, and internal teams to align technology with Medicaid goals.
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Architect and deploy AWS cloud infrastructure for Medicaid systems, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CDK).
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and integrate AWS services for process efficiency.
- Monitor system performance using AWS CloudWatch, Trusted Advisor, and other tools; optimize resource utilization.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure solutions comply with federal and state healthcare standards (HIPAA, MARS-E), and implement AWS security best practices (IAM, VPC, encryption)
- Conduct security audits, resolve vulnerabilities, and maintain robust incident response and monitoring capabilities (CloudTrail, SIEM, multi-factor authentication)
- Oversee compliance documentation, operational playbooks, and reporting.
Quality Oversight
- Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures, standards, and performance audits for MMIS solutions.
- Collect and analyze quality data, drive continuous improvement, and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
- Prepare and communicate outcomes of quality activities to internal and external stakeholders.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Prepare architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and compliance reports.
- Lead cross-functional teams, mentor staff, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
Tools & Technologies
- Cloud & DevOps: AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway, CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK), Azure (optional), Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Ansible, Git, CI/CD tools
- Security: IAM, VPC, KMS, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, SIEM, multi-factor authentication, encryption tools
- Quality & Compliance: ISO 9000, HIPAA, MARS-E, CMS MITA, audit and reporting tools.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, architectural modeling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, TOGAF), project management platforms.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years’ experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or cloud architecture roles, with direct MMIS/Medicaid experience.
- 3+ years hands-on experience with AWS cloud services in enterprise environments.
- Proven track record in security and compliance for healthcare IT.
- Strong understanding of quality management processes and standards (ISO 9000, etc.).
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional)
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.)
- Quality Management certifications (ISO, Six Sigma)

- Fully Remote Opportunity – Work from anywhere in the U.S.
- Minimal Travel Required – Occasional travel opportunities (0-10%).

The pay range for this position is $95,100.00 - $135,800.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
