Job Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Reviews network service plans and ensures installations are accurate and timely to ensure customer business needs are met.
  • Ensures compliance standards are met for testing, turn-ups and maintenance of backbone voice and/or data networks.
  • Manages project teams of engineers and technicians to ensure the reliability and availability of voice and/or data networks.
  • Provides support and assists in monitoring aspects of network architecture, planning, implementation, creation of operational procedures, security audits, performance monitoring and reporting to ensure optimal business networking solutions.
  • Defines needed methodologies to ensure compatibility of software and hardware products at customer facilities.
  • Provides ongoing coordination in the analysis, acquisition, and installation of remote hardware and software to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Selects and hires employees. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Motivates and rewards employees including providing salary increases, bonuses and promotions within allocated budgets and company guidelines.
  • Prepares and recommends operating and personnel budgets for approval. Monitors spending for adherence to budget, recommends variances as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Nine or more years of networks or network planning experience
  • Five or more years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Certified Network Engineer (CNE) certification preferred
  • Experience working with voice/data communications equipment and transmission
  • Experience working with network planning policies, procedures, and standards
  • Experience working with networking software and hardware infrastructures
  • Experience working with network systems and networking principles and practices
  • Experience working with department budgets
  • Experience working with security systems and implementation procedures
  • Possess Department of Defense (DoD) security access of ADP I, ADP II, or ADP III
  • Pass background checks such as NAC, NACLC, and/or SSBI
