Summary
As an RI Account Pharmacy Technician at Gainwell Technologies, you will support the Rhode Island Medicaid pharmacy programs by serving as a subject matter expert across pharmacy operations, prior authorizations, and provider support. In this role, you will assist pharmacists, providers, and state partners to ensure accurate processing, regulatory compliance, and a high-quality experience for stakeholders supporting critical healthcare programs.
Your role in our mission
In this role, you will support Gainwell’s commitment to operational excellence and compliance by:

Processing prior authorization (PA) requests for RI Medicaid, including Point of Sale (POS) and Physician Administered Drugs (PAD), within established turnaround times.

Supporting state pharmacy programs including RI Medicaid, AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), and Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Elderly (RIPAE/SPAP) by applying program policies and completing approvals when pharmacist clinical judgment is not required.

Reviewing, resolving, and responding to pharmacy claims inquiries from providers, state agencies, and internal teams, including billing guidance and claims processing rules.

Maintaining collaborative working relationships with state partners such as EOHHS, Office of Healthy Aging (OHA), and Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF).

Ensuring accurate documentation of all inquiries and strict adherence to PHI, HIPAA, and data security requirements.
What we're looking for
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, service-driven professional who brings:

High school diploma or GED, with active Pharmacy Technician registration or certification (PTCB, ExCPT, or equivalent, or ability to obtain within 12 months).

At least 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience in retail, hospital, managed care, insurance, PBM, or related healthcare settings.

Working knowledge of pharmacy claims processing, prior authorizations, and government-sponsored pharmacy programs.

Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal pharmacy systems.

The pay range for this position is $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
