This role is ideal for a versatile professional who can effectively perform traditional business analysis responsibilities while also supporting project management and delivery activities as business needs require.

Your role in our mission

Play a critical role in ensuring Gainwell meets our clients' objectives in key business and technology initiatives.

  • Help coordinate a business analyst team's duties and activities on IT projects while mentoring newer team members through guidance and support.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable bridge between clients, project managers, and technical teams to define, document, and communicate business requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Work with clients to develop business specifications and requirements at the start of technical projects.
  • Analyze, design, document, and recommend improvements to business processes that support client technology goals.
  • Validate that requirements have been met through review and approval of testing results and deliverables.
  • Utilize analytical tools and basic SQL queries to analyze data, validate requirements, support testing, and quantify the anticipated impact of proposed solutions.
  • Partner with project managers to support project planning, status reporting, risk and issue tracking, stakeholder communications, and action item management.
  • Flex between business analysis and project coordination responsibilities as business priorities and project needs evolve.

What we're looking for

  • 6 or more years of experience in a Business Analyst role, with 3 or more years of Medicaid and Medicare experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of technology delivery concepts, including system configuration, development lifecycles, data interfaces, and batch processing.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write and execute basic queries for data analysis, validation, troubleshooting, and research.
  • Advanced proficiency with analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, and requirements-management tools, including Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) platforms.
  • Strong client communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into actionable objectives and deliverables.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business process re-engineering capabilities.
  • Experience supporting project management activities, including project planning, status reporting, stakeholder coordination, risk management, and execution tracking.
  • Demonstrated interest in project management and a desire to grow into expanded project leadership responsibilities over time.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt between business analysis and project coordination responsibilities in a fast-paced client environment.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills with the ability to engage business leaders, clients, and technical personnel.
  • A collaborative leader who motivates others to action and communicates complex business and technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

What sets you apart

  • Experience supporting State Medicaid programs, MMIS operations, or healthcare technology initiatives.
  • Experience serving as both a Business Analyst and project coordinator or junior project manager.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • CAPM certification or interest in pursuing project management certification.
  • Candidates located in or near the Montgomery, Alabama area are strongly preferred to support client collaboration and occasional onsite meetings.

The pay range for this position is $64,900.00 - $92,700.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
