Summary
As a Senior Business Analyst - Medicaid at Gainwell,
you will support complex healthcare IT initiatives by translating business needs into well-defined, high-quality system solutions. In this role, you will contribute to requirements, design, and testing activities while partnering with project teams to ensure solutions are complete, accurate, and aligned with client expectations.
You will work closely with project leadership, technical teams, and client stakeholders to deliver outcomes that improve care delivery and operational effectiveness for Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Medicaid members, and providers.Here are the details on this position.
Your role in our mission
Play a key role in delivering high-quality business analysis support across projects, contributing to the success of system implementations and enhancements.
- Develop and own structured solution artifacts that define discrete system changes or work products, driving them end-to-end from initial definition through stakeholder review, build coordination, testing alignment, implementation, and closure
- Elicit, document, and manage business, functional, and non-functional requirements, translating business needs into clear, actionable deliverables for technical and project teams
- Support development of project deliverables, including requirements, design documentation, and user-facing materials
- Analyze business processes and system impacts across functional areas, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives
- Participate in and support requirements workshops, design sessions, and client walkthroughs
- Ensure adherence to established standards, templates, and naming conventions across deliverables
- Maintain project coordination and communication activities, including capturing and distributing meeting minutes, tracking status of work items, and providing regular updates to Project Managers, Business Leads, and other stakeholders
- Provide guidance and support to junior BAs, contributing to team consistency and development
What we're looking for
- Six or more years of experience as a Business Analyst or requirements analyst
- Experience supporting healthcare or Medicaid system implementations (required)
- Proven experience developing clear, structured requirements and supporting design documentation for system implementations
- Strong knowledge of requirements elicitation and writing, SDLC/PLC processes, and alignment of requirements to testing and validation activities
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across business, technical, and QA/testing functions
- Ability to analyze and document business processes and system impacts across multiple functional areas
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality deliverables with minimal rework
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a project team
What you should expect in this role
- Work as a key contributor on complex system implementation or modernization initiatives
- Collaborate closely with project leadership (PM, BA Leads, Technical Lead, and Test Lead)
- Support delivery across multiple functional areas and system components
- Engage with client stakeholders (DHS) in requirements, design, and testing discussions
- Opportunity to grow into Project Business Lead responsibilities over time
- Role requires residency and work location within the contiguous United States (48 states)
- Video cameras must be used during all interviews and during the initial week of orientation
- Working hours aligned to core business hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM CST

The pay range for this position is $69,400.00 - $99,200.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
