Senior Cloud Security Engineer

Summary

Cloud Security Engineers plan, implement, upgrade, or monitor security measures and tools for the protection of computer networks and information. Assess system vulnerabilities for security risks and propose and implement risk mitigation strategies. May ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure. May respond to computer security breaches and viruses. The Cloud Security Engineer assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Your role in our mission

• Automate cloud security controls to ensure threat, vulnerabilities and risk are minimized.
• Able to make independent decisions regarding their own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and require minimal direction, seeking guidance where needed.
• Assist in ensuring the security of web applications and cloud infrastructure through the continual improvement of security tooling, automation, and engagement with internal stakeholders.
• Assist in the automation security controls, data, and processes to provide better metrics and operational support using security-as-code.
• Assist in configuring network security including in a hybrid context with traditional network centric controls. Asist in design and implementation host-based security monitoring.
• Asist in application migration efforts including but not limited to network connectivity architecture.
• Asist cloud systems and infrastructure to identify potential weaknesses or problems and upgrade software, VMs, containers to ensure optimal performance of cloud environment and security tools,
• Assist in developing automated security compliance, remediate misconfigurations, vulnerabilities in the code/configurations.
• Be able to brief cloud security issue remediation, troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts including collaborating with stakeholders to improve overall application security posture.
• Asist in supporting Cloud Security Maturity Assessment processes.
• Asist in configuring security controls and policies, manage access to data, and monitor threats to ensure that apps, containers, infrastructure, and networks are protected.
• Support infrastructure engineers to implement security best-practices and enable secure development and release processes.
• Assist in troubleshooting incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
• Educate teams on the security implementations and best practices. Participate and contribute in setting and improving cloud security standards.
• Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
• Build and utilize scripts to enable automation of common tasks.
• Act as a level escalation point for engineers and analysts, mentoring where needed.
• Ensure cloud infrastructure service designs and configurations are maintained in accordance with security standards and policies.
• Make design change recommendations for improvements to the cloud environments and associated services and configurations, including build out and utilization of scripting languages.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Six or more years of experience in network, host, data and/or application security in multiple operating system environments
• Security Certifications (Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), AWS Certified Security-Specialty, GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA), CompTIA Cloud+, or AWS Solutions Architect
• NIST and FIPS experience
• Vulnerability and Compliance
• Networking, encryption, IPsec, PKI
