Your role in our mission

Develop your career as you support Gainwell’s focus on creating innovative, purpose-built technologies and solutions to deliver better health and human services outcomes.

Leads a small number of data operations resources, including database administrators and developers.
Prepare, package, coordinate and implement production release and fixes.
Identify and advise on issues and necessary remediation as appropriate.
Use DDL (Data Definition Language) and DML (Data Manipulation Language) to define the schema of a database
Optimizing and performance tuning using execution plans; and SQL Profile and Database Tuning advisor.
Troubleshoot application database connectivity, Azure SQL, query performance, disaster recovery and other issues.
Develops and utilizes best practices, checklists and defined processes.
Assists in the design of basic technical programs for projects or enhancement to existing programs.
Monitors database activity and files usage, and ensures necessary resources are available.
Investigates and resolves technical database issue.
Oversees the analysis and determination of database performance characteristics, informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for more complex databases.
Recommends and implements tuning opportunities to improve system response and run times.
Defines logical attributes and data inter-relationships and designs complex data structures to accommodate database production implementation, storage, maintenance and accessibility to enhance performance.
Optimizes database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes.
Implements and supports database security regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Monitors security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; is aware of and verifies the installation of necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database security.
Plans and installs upgrades of database management systems (DBMS) software as necessary to enhance database performance.
Research various hardware and software products; recommends the best solution and implements approved products.
Functions as a technical project leader and provides work leadership to less experienced personnel on a portfolio of databases, including installation and upgrades of DBMS software and backup/recovery strategies.
Reviews and approves application and database design decisions to ensure that the application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and reliability upon deployment.
Assists project managers in the development of project plans including detailed project estimates and task required for database activities.
Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
Integrates databases and commercial off the shelf software; resolves conflicts between databases and off the shelf software, operating systems, and open source applications.
Designs and tests database installation, implementation, and recovery scenarios.
Determines tests to use and collects appropriate data according to established guidelines.
Participates in analysis, development and implementation of unique database recover plans in response to database outages.

What we're looking for

10+ years of data management experience to include SQL Server Application Database Administration, DDL/DML and working closely with application developers
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud, Amazon Web Services and SQL Server IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service).
Knowledge of Azure SQL database including installation, configuration, backup/restore, security, AD groups, managing resources groups and storage blobs is a plus.
Experience working with computer hardware/software installation/upgrading, database/system maintenance procedures, database creation techniques, and database management systems (DBMS) features and database performance tuning.
Desired: Application development, PowerShell automation, Agile/Kanban, HIPAA and/or Health Care (Medicaid)

The pay range for this position is $88,900 - $115,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
