Summary

The Senior Director of Proposal Development is responsible for supporting requests across Gainwell’s business lines for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), sole source agreements, and other associated requests. The employee will coordinate proposal-related functions including RFP distribution, proposal development and production, presentation support and post submittal follow-up for new and existing business. This role will be responsible for evaluating current state (people/process/systems) for efficiencies, driving process improvement and standardization, and training key stakeholders on process changes. This role also will be responsible for the development and maintenance of standard templates for proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of proposal professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance their effectiveness and career growth
  • Manage proposal writing assignments, including work with external staffing agencies to supplement staffing needs
  • Manage content management/AI database system
  • Maintain and update proposal baseline, current corporate information, location profiles, resumes, bios, customer references, and templates as needed
  • Develop and implement proposal strategies, processes, and best practices
  • Collaborate with internal teams and other key stakeholders to gather necessary information and resources for proposals
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with various Gainwell SMEs in the development of the proposal and other requested documents
  • Oversee and guide team members, providing direction, support, and motivation to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives, and provide constructive feedback to help employees grow and improve.
  • Understand business goals and challenges to ensure proposals and initiatives align with overall objectives
  • Lead meetings and status calls, as needed
  • Customize, proofread, edit, and ensure accuracy of the final proposal document
  • Use data and feedback to identify opportunities for process improvement and leads subsequent change management
  • Complete competitive bid analyses to understand industry trends and differentiators, translating analyses to actionable solutions
  • Ensure proposal compliance with requirements specified in the RFP
  • Act as Player/Coach as needed on large strategic proposal efforts

 

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight years of experience in proposal management and development, preferably in the health and human services or health care industry
  • Strong understanding of the Shipley proposal process and standards
  • Previous experience with complex proposals, including state or Federal
  • Demonstrated success in managing people; setting and communicating goals and expectations, measuring accomplishments, holding staff members accountable, delegating responsibility, keeping staff members informed, coaching, mentoring, reinforcing positive behavior and managing conflict
  • Strong sense of accountability; excellent analytical skills, written and verbal communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess advanced written and oral skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with senior leaders and employees
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to coach, lead, motivate and influence others to support corporate goals and objectives to produce a winning proposal within budget and schedule constraint
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
  • Ability to manage employees through influence even though they may not be a direct report

Education and/or Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or a related field
  • Certification in proposal management (e.g., APMP) is a plus
  • Experience with proposal management software and tools is a plus

Computer Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office / Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Professional, Visio, and Project is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $124,300.00 - $177,600.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
