Senior Pharmacy Technician - Call Center Remote TX

The Senior Pharmacy Technician for Texas Vendor Pharmacy Modernization (VPM) project is expected to be a subject matter expert (SME) in areas of pharmacy knowledge and call center operations. Duties will include but are not limited to appropriate processing of prior authorization (PA) requests, research and resolution of escalations received from providers or pharmacy and initial and continuous training of the pharmacy technician team.

Your role in our mission

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA/PHI protocols and requirements.
  • Process prior authorization requests within mandated time frames set by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Vendor Drug Program (VDP).
  • Complete approval process for straightforward cases, without requiring clinical judgement.
  • Conduct initial reviews of prior authorization submissions from providers or pharmacies.
  • Maintain effective communication with providers regarding authorization status and other inquiries.
  • Handle incoming calls, providing prompt and accurate resolution using available resources.

What we're looking for

  • Active certified pharmacy technician from accredited program (PTCB, ExCPT, etc.)
  • 2+ years of relevant experience as a pharmacy technician in managed care, insurance, or pharmacy benefit management
  • Willing to travel to Austin TX office if needed. 

What you should expect in this role

  • This position is REMOTE
  • Work shift is Monday through Friday
  • Pharmacy Operating Hours: 7:00 am. to 7:00 pm. (CT)
