Summary

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Technical Manager to lead our Network Security team. This role requires a dynamic leader with deep technical expertise in network security and proven experience managing both internal and outsourced teams in a fast-paced, enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will be equally strong in hands-on technical execution and strategic leadership, with the ability to drive initiatives, mentor team members, and ensure operational excellence.

Your role in our mission

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Network Security and Firewall team.
  • Provide direct leadership and performance management for a team of 3 full-time engineers and 5+ outsourced resources.
  • Deliver direction and leadership at an enterprise level, ensuring alignment with IT security strategy and business goals.
  • Collaborate with peers and senior leadership to design and implement secure, scalable solutions.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external Professional Services vendors to ensure cost-effective and standards-compliant implementation services.
  • Establish and enforce standards, guidelines, and best practices for the Network Security team.
  • Oversee the build, monitoring, and maintenance of network security infrastructure, including: Firewall rule management
  • Hardware/software management for firewalls, IDS/IPS, remote VPN, and site-to-site tunnels
  • Perform analysis and contribute to the architectural design, integration, and installation of security devices and solutions.
  • Evaluate, test, and document current network security baselines to identify needs and improvements.
  • Develop technical standards and evaluate new products to maintain optimal network security.
  • Monitor system utilization and associated costs to guide IT investment decisions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in business terms to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer service and operational excellence.

What we're looking for

  • Strong knowledge of security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven experience configuring and troubleshooting remote access and site-to-site VPNs.
  • Expertise in Palo Alto, Cisco, and Check Point firewalls (certifications required).
  • Strong understanding of IP subnetting and network protocols.
  • Experience with cloud and virtual environments.
  • Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and apply them to strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrated success in leading geographically dispersed teams and managing vendor relationships.

What you should expect in this role

This is a fully remote position with the flexibility to work from home, and we are considering candidates from all US locations.  
Video cameras must be used during all interviews, as well as during the initial week of orientation.

The pay range for this position is $95,600.00 - $136,500.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
