The FinOps Analyst will manage and optimize AWS cloud costs in support of the Gainwell Infrastructure contract with the CalSAWS Consortium. The FinOps analyst will collaborate with Gainwell account operations and technology teams and the CalSAWS client to implement and maintain FinOps practices and methodologies, with a focus on analyzing cloud usage and spending data to identify areas for cost optimization.
Additionally, the FinOps Analyst will participate in procurement activities including identifying vendors, negotiating with vendors, managing vendor contracts, and managing vendor relationships.

Your role in our mission
- In collaboration with the Gainwell account operations and technology teams:
- Monitor AWS cloud usage and spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Analyze cloud usage patterns and trends to identify areas for optimization
- Recommend changes to cloud service usage, pricing models, and purchasing options
- Identify and drive cost optimization initiatives
- Develop and maintain financial models to forecast and track cloud costs
- Create reports and dashboards to track and communicate cloud cost optimization efforts to Gainwell and the CalSAWS Consortium
- Participate in pricing and contract negotiations with AWS
What we're looking for
- Nine or more years of experience working as a business analyst
- AWS computing experience.
- Strong understanding cloud computing services, including cloud infrastructure, software, and platform as a service. Experience working in an AWS environment.
- Financial management skills
- Knowledge of financial management principles and experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Data analysis skills
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning. Experience with SQL, Python, R, and other data analysis tools is also important.
- Collaboration and communication skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the FinOps Analyst must work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technology, as well as the CalSAWS Consortium teams.
- FinOps practices experience
- Experience implementing and maintaining FinOps practices and methodologies and FinOps tools and platforms.
- Vendor relationship management experience
- Experience with Identifying vendors, negotiating with vendors, managing vendor contracts, and managing vendor relationships.

The pay range for this position is $92,900.00 - $132,700.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
