Summary

HMS is hiring Service Authorization Representatives to support our Alaska MMIS Fiscal Agent account. Under the leadership and direction of the Service Authorization and Nurse Manager, the Service Authorization Representatives provide support to the Service Authorization team, Utilization and Review team, Nurses, Dentists, and other staff as needed through data entry, filing, and answering incoming calls.  Other duties may be assigned as required.

Your role in our mission

  • Operates a variety of office-related equipment, such as multi-line phone system, computer, fax machine, copy machine, and postage meter.
  • Assists staff with collection and transfer of non-clinical data, acquisition of clinical data, and activities that do not require evaluation or interpretation of clinical information.
  • Performs a variety of general administrative duties for the Service Authorization Department.
  • Answers telephone calls to the Utilization Management department.
  • Performs data entry of prior authorization requests into the prior authorization system.
  • Facilitates electronic filing/scanning of medical records in the appropriate format and location.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in Service Authorizations, Utilization Management, or related healthcare setting preferred. Proficiency with medical terminology and/or coding preferred.
  • No licensure or certification requirements.
  • Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and phone communication skills to interact with internal departments and external contacts.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage duties in a timely manner.
  • Must treat all health information with confidentiality and discretion.

What you should expect in this role

  • This position will support our Alaska office and work hours that reflect the Alaska time zone.

  • In order to effectively work as a teleworker with Gainwell, employees Broadband Internet connections, should have a minimum speed of 24MBS download and 8 MBS upload.  Greater speeds will of course provide better performance.

The pay range for this position is [[salaryMin]] - [[salaryMid]] per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
