Financial Operations Associate, Hybrid, Warwick, RI

Summary

The Financial Operations Associate is responsible for processing, monitoring, and reconciling financial transactions that support scheduled operational cycles for the State of Rhode Island Medicaid Program. This role is transaction‑driven and operational in nature, focusing on system processing, data review, reconciliation, and reporting rather than traditional accounting functions.

The Associate works within the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and related banking platforms to ensure accurate execution of payments, recoupments, and adjustments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Your role in our mission

•  Process and manage payment transactions, adjustments, recoupments, EFT activities, and accounts receivable postings within MMIS and related financial systems.
•  Execute scheduled financial cycle activities, including payouts, recoveries, MCO-related payments, stop payments, manual checks, wire transfers, and bank deposit processing.
• Generate, review, reconcile, and prepare financial reports and transaction summaries to ensure accuracy and support State reporting requirements.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies, processing errors, and transaction issues while maintaining check inventory, logs, and financial controls.
• Support audits, system enhancements, operational projects, and process improvement initiatives by providing documentation, transaction details, and subject matter expertise.

What you should expect in this role

• College degree preferred or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Experience in operational finance, payment processing, claims, banking operations, or healthcare administration preferred.
• Medicaid, MMIS, or healthcare financial operations experience is a plus.
• Accounting certification or licensure not required.
