Your role in our mission

  • Assists in researching, writing, editing, and proofreading State policy for use in documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications to provide clients with information regarding technical areas in a less technical way.
  • Collaborates with technical personnel, as well as non-technical staff to create and refine draft materials. Collaboration styles include, but are not limited to, interviewing technical personnel, reading previous documentation and design notes, and conducting cross-discipline meetings. 
  • Writes, organizes, and reviews online help documents, policy and system change announcements to support end users.  
  • Uses a variety of resources to gather and research previous documentation for use as a reference in their drafted materials. 
  • Coordinates multiple projects on various deadlines and escalates issues in a timely manner.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in communications, journalism, technical writing or related field preferred
  • Experience working with desktop publishing, word processing, and on-line documentation software
  • Experience working with industry writing style such as grammar, sentence form, structure; proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms
  • Good communication skills for interacting with personnel and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team

  • Hybrid- ability to be in the office when requested. 
  • Location- West Sacramento or 50 miles radio
  • Resident of California

The pay range for this position is $49,400.00 - $61,700.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
